WordPress client portals are mainly used to provide certain services to the users of a website, but only the registered ones. WP Client Portal is a great tool for sharing updates and files with others. It allows you to create a user, then upload many kinds of updates to their Client Area for them to retrieve later.

What can you do with this plugin? You can share numerous types of content, sorted into folders, and even categorize them into custom categories. We designed the plugin to be as flexible as possible. The text areas supports html, which means you can leave a simple text description, embed images or YouTube videos, and more. Types of files you can share are PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, JPG, GIF, PNG, RAR, and ZIP. Here are some sample ways to use the plugin:

Installation

  1. Download WP Client Portal
  2. Upload contents of compressed file (wp-client-portal) to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory.
  3. Activate the plugin through the `Plugins` menu in WordPress admin.
  4. Go into settings for WP Client Portal and configure the plugin.

How To Use

Setup

Using either the PHP fuction in your theme files or the shortcode in a content page, the plugin will output the client portal where to tell it to do so. If the user is not currently logged in, they will be presented with a login box.
Function: You can echo wp_client_portal_show(); inside one of your theme template files.
Shortcode: [WPCPORTAL_SHOW] is available for you to use in the content area on any page/post. Simply include [WPCPORTAL_SHOW] in the content of the post where you would like the client portal to be displayed.

Usage To ADD a New Client:

  1. First, add the client as a WordPress User
  2. Go to WP Client Portal >> Users, and click Add New
  3. Fill out the necessary info. Fill out the required fields, and choose * Client as the Role. This is critical for the tool to work.
  4. When done, click Add New User
  5. On the left menu, under WP Client Portal, click Clients
  6. Click Add New
  7. Select the Username of the user you created
  8. Add any useful links you want to appear for that user, or leave it blank. This is useful if you want provide links to common sites.
  9. Locations is option and allows you to further categorize updates or files by location. You can change this to say anything you want by boing to WP Client Portal >> Settings
  10. When done, click on Publish. You changes will NOT be live until you do (common error).

Keep your updates tidy by adding Folders. For example, you can put plans in one folder, weekly updates in another, and financials in yet another. Here’s how:

  1. Go to WP Client Portal >> Folders, and click Add New
  2. Simply add the name of your folder
  3. To Add Updates or Files
  4. Go to WP Client Portal >> Updates and click Add New
  5. Select the Client
  6. Select the Folder
  7. Select the Optional field if you set one up (We created “Location” for you, which can be changed in WP Client Portal >> Settings)
  8. Add a text note if you wish
  9. Choose your file, then click Publish on the right

Clients or other Users can login by going to /wp-admin and logging in. To make it easy on your users, consider adding a menu item to that page. You can also install a login plugin like Theme My Login to integrate your login with your theme.
